PGL Bucharest 2026 Quarter-Finals: All Four Series End 2-1 as Astralis Pull Off Reverse Sweep

The first day of PGL Bucharest 2026 playoffs delivered exactly what the bracket promised — chaos. Every single quarterfinal series went the full three maps, and not a single favorite walked through their match. By the time the smoke cleared, Astralis, 3DMAX, FUT Esports, and The MongolZ had punched their tickets to the semifinals, while EYEBALLERS, MIBR, B8, and PARIVISION were sent home from Romania.

Astralis 2-1 EYEBALLERS — The Reverse Sweep

The Swedish underdogs EYEBALLERS looked like they would steal the headline. They came out of the gate with crisp executes on Mirage and closed the opener 13-8, leaving Astralis with no margin for error. The Danish side switched to Ancient, where the score swung back and forth before reaching overtime. Astralis edged it 16-14 after a tense set of clutches in the back half of regulation.

The decider on Inferno turned into the most one-sided map of the entire day. Astralis steamrolled the EYEBALLERS economy from the opening pistol, never losing momentum, and closed the series 13-2. Ryu led the team's stat sheet on the decider with a 20-bomb, while device contributed the steady AWP work that has defined Astralis' run through the Swiss stage. It was the kind of comeback that turns a tournament narrative.

3DMAX 2-1 MIBR — Comeback on Ancient

3DMAX were widely tipped to roll past MIBR, but the Brazilians had other plans. They snatched Inferno 13-9 behind solid map control and disciplined utility usage. On Ancient, MIBR pushed their lead all the way to 11-6 and looked set to send the French team packing.

Then 3DMAX flipped the switch. A pair of clutches from Maka — including a 1v2 in a critical economy round — and a sequence of Lucky opening picks dragged the map back into overtime, where 3DMAX finally took it 16-13. The decider on Nuke was a much more comfortable affair, ending 13-9. Lucky finished the series with a 1.22 rating and 53 kills, while Maka added 55 frags at 1.17. MIBR's LNZ posted a respectable 1.09 but had little support in the closing stages.

FUT 2-1 B8 — Krabeni Carries the Turkish Side

The Turkish-Bulgarian squad FUT Esports had been the surprise team of the Swiss stage with a clean 3-0 run, and B8 caught them at the worst possible moment — the playoff bracket. The CIS side took an early map and forced FUT into one of their toughest series of the event. Krabeni, FUT's young star, dragged his team back into the match with a stylish 3K to put them on the board on map two, and FUT pulled off a memorable retake from a 3v5 deficit to swing momentum.

FUT closed the series 2-1 to extend their unbeaten run in Bucharest, and they now arguably enter the semifinals as the most in-form squad. With MAJ3R calling the shots and Krabeni firing on all cylinders, FUT have already exceeded every realistic preseason expectation set for them in 2026.

The MongolZ 2-1 PARIVISION — From 3-9 Down to a Comeback

The fourth and final quarterfinal was the most dramatic. PARIVISION opened on Dust2 with the kind of clinical T-side they have become known for, taking the map 13-6. The MongolZ bounced back on Mirage 13-8 behind a vintage 910 AWP performance, and the series moved to Ancient.

That is where things got wild. PARIVISION raced out to a 9-3 halftime lead and looked like they would punch their semifinal ticket. The MongolZ then rattled off ten of the next twelve rounds — mzinho and Senzu hit clutch after clutch — and closed the map 13-9. The Mongolian squad have now beaten three top-15 teams in this event and have officially put the rest of the world on notice.

Day in Numbers

  • 4/4 series went the full three maps
  • 3/4 winners had to come back from a map deficit
  • 2 overtime maps (3DMAX/MIBR Ancient, Astralis/EYEBALLERS Ancient)
  • 0 top-seeded teams (Astralis, FUT) lost their series

What's Next

The semifinals are scheduled for April 10:

  • Astralis vs 3DMAX — a rematch of the PGL Cluj-Napoca 2026 group stage, where 3DMAX won 2-0
  • The MongolZ vs FUT Esports — two of the most surprising teams of 2026 collide

The grand final is scheduled for April 11. With the established giants like Vitality, NAVI, MOUZ, and Spirit absent from this event, Bucharest is guaranteed a first-time PGL champion in 2026 — and based on what we just watched, predicting that champion is anyone's guess.
